Is conveying news about the family, and whether someone has caused problems, considered backbiting?

Backbiting is mentioning a person with what they dislike, as stated in the noble Hadith: "Gheebah (backbiting) is your mentioning your brother with what he dislikes." The legal criterion is what the person dislikes being mentioned about them. As for ordinary news, there is no harm in it.
