What is the correct reading of verse 60 of Surah An-Nur: (أن يضعن ثيابهن - that they lay aside their garments) or (أن يضعن من ثيابهن - that they lay aside some of their garments)? And is Ibn Mas'ud's recitation considered incorrect for including the preposition "min"?

This reading was attributed to Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, by way of interpretation, not as a Quranic recitation. Some Companions, including Ibn Mas'ud, used to insert interpretations into their Mus'hafs, believing that the Quranic wording was preserved. Al-Suyuti supported this and likened it to idraj (insertion) in prophetic hadith. What confirms that it is an interpretative reading by Ibn Mas'ud is that he used to recite the well-known verse and then explain that the intention was to place the jilbab (outer garment) and not the khimar (head covering). As for Hafs's recitation, it is from Asim, from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, from Ali ibn Abi Talib. Whereas Shu'bah's recitation is from Asim, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud.
