Is it permissible to give Zakat on gold by sending it to charities that deliver aid (food and medicine) to the people of Gaza, instead of handing it directly to the poor?

It is permissible to pay Zakat to those in distress and to organizations that deliver it to them in the form of food and medical aid, because the value is more beneficial to the poor. However, a distinction must be made between those who are eligible for Zakat and those who are not. Therefore, it is necessary to authorize organizations that differentiate between Zakat funds and charity funds, and that disburse Zakat to its rightful recipients according to Islamic law. Muslims must help their besieged brethren, for whoever relieves a Muslim of a distress, Allah will relieve him of a distress on the Day of Resurrection.
