Is it permissible to give a wife her dowry in a currency different from that agreed upon in the contract?

It is permissible for the spouses to agree on giving the dowry in a currency different from what was agreed upon in the contract, provided that the exchange is at the rate of the day of payment, and that the full amount is paid before they separate, based on the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): "There is no harm in taking it at its price on the day of payment, as long as you have not separated and there is something between you."
