What is the meaning of hastening the funeral procession?

Scholars have differed on the meaning of hastening the Janazah (funeral). The majority opinion is that it means walking quickly with it, which Imam Al-Nawawi preferred. Al-Fakihi, Ibn Battal, and others commented that the meaning might be to hasten its preparation and burial immediately upon certainty of death, to prevent the corpse from remaining among the family. Sheikh Ibn Baz, may Allah have mercy on him, preferred that the intention includes quick walking, and implicitly includes hastening its preparation, washing, and performing the funeral prayer over it.
