The half-brother is either a paternal half-brother or a maternal half-brother. If he is a paternal half-brother, he inherits provided there is no father, son, grandson, or full brother. The maternal half-brother inherits one-sixth if he is alone, and for him to inherit, there must be no father, grandfather, or any lineal descendant whatsoever.
