The answer

According to the majority of scholars, zakat is obligatory on the wealth of a child, due to the general evidences that mandate zakat on wealth. The guardian of the child must pay it from the child's wealth. If he does not do so, the child must pay it after reaching puberty for the past years. The one responsible for paying zakat on a child's wealth is the guardian or trustee, who may be the mother or brother, depending on the will of the deceased or a ruling from the Sharia court.
