Is it permissible to refuse marriage to a girl because of her short stature, despite my admiration for her religiosity and lineage?
The criterion for choosing a wife is religiosity, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Succeed with the one who is religious, may your hands be soiled." There is no rejection of choosing a beautiful woman, but beauty should not be prioritized over religiosity and character. Furthermore, a husband's consideration of what suits him in a wife is more conducive to fostering affection, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Mughirah ibn Shu'bah: "Look at her, for it is more likely to create affection between you two." So, if you do not feel acceptance towards the girl, there is no harm in withdrawing from the engagement. But if you do feel acceptance, then rely on Allah and marry her after performing Istikhara.
