What is the ruling of the Shari'ah concerning the 'iddah of a woman who is ill and unable to fast, negligent in her prayers and remembrance of God, does not perform ghusl, and refuses treatment for a possible demonic touch, while her niece feels distressed by caring for her?

The aunt must observe the idda (waiting period) of death. The idda is not waived due to illness, and she is permitted to go out for medical treatment. As for her abandonment of prayer, it is a grave transgression, and illness does not waive prayer as long as the intellect is present. She must pray according to her ability. It is advisable to invite her (to good) with wisdom and good admonition. The obligatory ritual bath (ghusl (definition) wajib (definition)) must not be neglected. As for a bath for cleanliness, the matter is lenient. It is incumbent to treat her gently and guide her well. If it is highly probable that she is afflicted by a jinn possession, then she should be treated with legal ruqya. Kindness and patience must be shown towards the aunt, and no harm should be inflicted upon her.
