Listening to unlawful music does not invalidate the fast in , but it affects the fast and diminishes its reward, because true fasting involves restraining the limbs from forbidden acts. Whoever commits forbidden acts while fasting, such as backbiting, lying, and listening to music, will have no share from their fast except hunger and thirst, as stated in the : "Perhaps a fasting person gets nothing from his fast except hunger and thirst."
