Is it permissible to supplicate against an oppressive Muslim that he apostatize and die as an apostate, and will one be rewarded for that?
The nullifiers of deeds are not limited to dying in a state of disbelief. supplicating against the enemies of Allah who persist in disbelief is permissible. However, supplicating that a Muslim apostatizes from Islam is not allowed and is a sin. Scholars have differed on whether the one who supplicates thus commits an act of disbelief or not, with the preponderant opinion being that he does not disbelieve. Furthermore, Musa's supplication against Pharaoh came after he knew through revelation that their belief was not to be hoped for. If a supplication is forbidden, then one is not rewarded for it; rather, its doer incurs sin.
