What is the ruling on repeating the salutation after finishing the prayer, such as saying: "Assalamu alaykum, Assalamu alaykum, Assalamu alaykum"?

The majority of scholars hold that the first salutation (taslima) is obligatory, and the second salutation is recommended. Adding more than two salutations is not prescribed because it has not been established (in the Sunnah). Some Maliki scholars permit three salutations for the congregant (ma'mum), but Judge Abu Bakr ibn al-Arabi rejected this, considering the third one an innovation (bid'ah). If the repetition of salutations is due to obsessive thoughts (waswasah), one should know that the prayer concludes with the first salutation, the second is recommended, and any additional salutations are futile and should be abandoned.
