Is supplicating for an increase in provision "many times one's salary" considered an excess in supplication?

Your supplication asking for multiple times your salary from a halal source is not an transgression in supplication. Rather, it is permissible to ask for lawful money and abundant provision. Texts have been narrated indicating the permissibility of this, such as the hadith: "What an excellent thing is righteous wealth for a righteous man," and the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) supplication: "O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds."
