What is the ruling on seeking forgiveness and asking Allah for provision and wealth, and is that considered an transgression in supplication?

There is no harm for a Muslim to ask Allah for an increase in sustenance and wealth, and to strive to acquire lawful money through various permissible means of earning, as long as money does not become his greatest concern. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Be keen on what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not lose heart," and his saying: "How excellent is lawful money for the righteous man." Asking for lawful money is not considered an transgression in supplication.
