If the marriage is ongoing, custody is a joint right of both parents, and the husband is not permitted to unilaterally take the child to his mother's house for an overnight stay without his wife's consent. However, if the wife does not fear harm to the child, it is preferable for her to agree to this to please her husband and to foster affection.
