Is repentance considered valid if it is due to detesting the sin after a major problem occurred because of it?

It is from the mercy of Allah the Almighty that a Muslim dislikes evil. If repentance fulfills its conditions and pillars—namely, abandoning the sin, resolving not to return to it, and regretting having committed it—then it is a sound and accepted repentance. The one who repents is like one who has not sinned, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." The dislike of evil that arises in the heart does not affect the validity of repentance; rather, it is a favor from Allah that aids in repentance.
