Does divorce take effect if the husband tells his wife: "I don't want you" or "Marry so-and-so from such-and-such people," without intending divorce?

A husband's statements to his wife, "I don't want you," and "Marry so-and-so," are implicit divorce (kinayah talāq) and do not constitute a divorce unless intended. The husband's word is taken regarding his intention or lack thereof to divorce. Therefore, as long as the husband did not intend divorce with these phrases, no divorce has occurred.
