The question

Did God send prophets to regions like South America and Australia, and does Abraham being the father of the prophets mean that everyone who came after him is from his offspring, which would limit the sending of prophets to the Middle East after him? And how is the mention of Lot as being from the offspring of Abraham in Surah Al-An'am (verses 84-86) interpreted, given that he is his nephew?

The answer

Allah sent a guide or a messenger to every nation, and no nation was without a warner.

There is no text in the Book or the regarding America and Australia, and the prophets were not limited to the Middle East. It is not known whether there were inhabitants in those countries in ancient times.

Ibrahim (peace be upon him) is known as the father of the prophets because most of the prophets who came after him and are mentioned in the Quran are from his descendants. Lot (peace be upon him) is the son of Ibrahim's brother.

The preponderant view is that the pronoun "his descendants" in Al-An'am refers to Noah, although there is a view that it refers to Ibrahim. The latter view has been contested by mentioning Jonah and Lot, who are not from his direct descendants. Ibn Abbas has explained that the Arabs consider the uncle as a father.
