Is it permissible to discard newspapers and journals in the trash if they are free, or predominantly presumed to be free, of the name of Allah and Qur'anic verses?

Newspapers and magazines that contain Quranic verses, prophetic hadiths, or the names of Allah must not be thrown in the trash. Even if they are free of such content, they should not be discarded in that manner. Some scholars have emphasized the prohibition of disrespecting Arabic letters. Ibn Baz mentioned that using newspapers as a tablecloth or for wrapping is impermissible, due to the possibility of them containing verses and hadiths. They must be preserved, burned, or buried in a pure place.
