Is it permissible for the congregant to recite half of the first Tashahhud in the second rak'ah of the Maghrib prayer, considering it to be his first?

The latecomer (masbuq) recites the tashahhud, following the Imam, even if it is not counted for him. He might even recite four tashahhuds in the Maghrib prayer. Scholars differ on whether the latecomer congregant recites the complete tashahhud, including prayers upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) and supplication (this is the view of the Shafi'i school), or if he confines himself to the tashahhud only (this is the view of the Hanbali school).
