Does the supplication: "Our Lord, forgive us and have mercy upon us, for if You do not have mercy upon us, we shall surely be among the losers" include the prophets and messengers? And is the statement that "the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his family, is the self-existent light and the divine light" considered polytheism if it is intended that the Messenger is from Allah's light? And is one who inquires about this out of fear of polytheism and disbelief considered a disbeliever or one who has committed something forbidden?

The supplication "Our Lord, forgive us and have mercy upon us, for if You do not have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers" is permissible, and the one who says it should intend it for themselves. Prophets and Messengers, including Noah, Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jonah, and Muhammad, peace be upon them, used to pray for forgiveness and mercy, as they are in need of it like other humans, and their deeds will not admit them to Paradise except by the grace and mercy of Allah. Describing the Prophet, peace be upon him, as a "self-existent light" meaning that he is part of the divine essence, is polytheism (shirk), for the Prophet is a creature from among the creation of Allah. However, it is permissible to describe him as "light" in the sense that he is guidance from Allah to His servants, as Al-Tabari interpreted the verse "There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book." The questioner is advised to strive against obsessive-compulsive disorder and not to pay attention to it.
