Is it permissible to wash, shroud, and pray over the deceased innovator (mubtadi’), or should one be restricted to only one of these matters?

Whoever dies as a Muslim is washed and prayed over. Whoever dies as a disbeliever is neither washed nor prayed over. As for one who dies upon an apostatizing innovation, such as believing in the apostasy of the Companions, or doubting the authenticity of the Qur'an, or accusing Aishah of that from which Allah has exonerated her, such a person is not washed, nor prayed over, nor buried in Muslim cemeteries. However, if one's innovation is not apostatizing, then they are washed, prayed over, and buried in Muslim cemeteries. But if they were open about it and an advocate for it, then people of knowledge and virtue should refrain from praying over them as a deterrent and a warning.
