What is the ruling on a relationship between a young man and a young woman if it is limited to inquiring about study-related matters once a month via Facebook, with the aim of future marriage?

The relationship between young men and foreign women has Islamic limits and regulations. Being negligent in this regard contravenes Islamic law and leads to grave consequences. The cure for a man's heart being attached to a foreign woman is marriage, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "We have not seen for two who love one another anything like marriage." If marriage is not possible, then they must turn away from this attachment, and each of them should strive to maintain chastity through marriage and occupy their time with what benefits them. A relationship between them outside of marriage is not permissible, whether it be through speech or correspondence, because it is a gateway to temptation and a means to the unlawful. If you are able to marry her, then marry her; otherwise, cut off the relationship with her.
