How can the moon mentioned in the Qur’an be a single moon in the seven heavens, while modern science has discovered the existence of billions of moons in space?

The moon mentioned in Surat Nuh does not pose a problem due to the existence of other moons in space; the verse does not specify a single moon, and the linguistic structure does not imply exclusivity. The intent is to affirm the moon's luminosity. Furthermore, the context of the verses pertains to the addressed people of Noah, who would not have known about other moons besides the one they saw, and if another had been mentioned to them, it would have only increased their disbelief. Some scholars have gone to say that the "al" (the definite article) in "al-Qamar" (the moon) is for genus, encompassing all moons that Allah has made luminous.
