How can I be an effective and beneficial member of my community while being a university student, especially with my feelings of distress regarding the state of the Ummah?

Study and all other energies, dealings, and affairs must be employed to uphold the word of God and to serve and elevate the Ummah. For the religion of God is the guarantor of rectifying people's affairs in their worldly life and their afterlife. There is no separation between this world and the hereafter in Islam, for all belongs to Allah Almighty. And the servant is commanded to establish the religion and to build up the world through it. Allah Almighty says: "Say, 'Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims.'"
