What is the ruling on a woman cutting her hair to shoulder-length, and what is the ruling on removing hair that grows on the face?

It is permissible for a woman to cut her hair to reduce its length or thickness, or for beauty, provided that it does not involve imitating disbelieving or immoral women, and that it is not styled in the manner of disbelieving women or animals. However, it is not permissible for her to shave her head unless there is a valid reason or illness.

As for removing facial hair, it is permissible to remove unusual hair, such as a mustache or hair growing on the cheek, because it disfigures a woman. It is also permissible to remove hair from the mustache, thighs, legs, and arms. However, it is not permissible to remove eyebrows or part of them by any means (shaving, cutting, removing); because that is considered namṣ (plucking) which is prohibited.
