Is a father held accountable in Islamic law if he marries off his daughter against her will, and she then refuses to return to her husband's home in a remote area and kills herself?

A father is not permitted to force his daughter to marry someone she does not desire. If the husband is aware of this, it is not lawful for him to consummate the marriage with her. Among a wife's rights is the provision of a safe dwelling; if it is not safe, the husband must relocate her. A woman's attempt to commit suicide is a reprehensible act and a grave sin, unless it is under the influence of a severe psychological illness that deprived her of awareness. The father must repent and seek forgiveness for the injustice he inflicted upon his daughter.
