Is a Muslim considered to be disobedient to his parents if he became angry when his father mocked his illness, and he distanced himself from him, perhaps hurting him with words, then later returned to speak with him?

Filial piety and kindness to parents are obligatory and imperative, even if the parents behave badly. Allah's saying: "But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness" and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying to Asma bint Abi Bakr concerning her polytheist mother: "Maintain ties with your mother" affirm this. Therefore, do not respond to your father's mockery with hurtful words or show him displeasure. Instead, advise him gently and wisely, be patient with his actions, and accompany him with appropriate kindness.
