What is the opinion regarding Sheikh Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani?

Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar is an Imam in Hadith, author of great works such as "Fath al-Bari," and his knowledge benefited both near and far. He had some تأويل (allegorical interpretation) regarding the attributes of Allah, following the method of the Ash'aris, but he was excused in this due to his ijtihad (independent reasoning) and ta'wil, and it is hoped that he will be rewarded for it.
