Was Sheikh Imam Zayn al-Din al-Fariqi, Imam of Dar al-Hadith in Damascus, Ash'ari or Athari, and did he have a relationship with Ibn Taymiyyah?

Zayn al-Din al-Fariqi is Abdullah ibn Marwan, a great Imam, Mufti, and jurist. He was born in 633 AH and passed away in 703 AH. He was the Shaykh of Dar al-Hadith and the Khatib of Damascus. He was a contemporary of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and they studied together. They shared the incident of denouncing the Christians' insult of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and were imprisoned because of it. There is insufficient information about the details of his creed, and he is not known to have authored any works.
