Is it forbidden to refuse to accept or eat from charity, especially when one has a job?

The term "sadaqah" (charity) applies to both obligatory zakat and voluntary charity. If the questioner is referring to zakat, then it is not permissible for her to take it unless she is one of the beneficiaries mentioned in the verse from Surat At-Tawbah: "Indeed, [obligatory] charitable gifts are only for the poor and the needy, and those employed to collect [zakat], and for bringing hearts together [for Islam], and for freeing captives, and for those in debt, and for the cause of Allah, and for the stranded traveler - an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise." So, if she is not poor or needy, meaning her income is sufficient for her expenses and the expenses of those she supports, and she does not have a debt she cannot repay, then it is not lawful for her to take zakat. However, if a poor or needy person who owns it gives it to her, there is no harm in eating from it or accepting it. If the questioner is referring to voluntary charity, then it is permissible for a rich person to take it without asking, and if they decline, there is no sin upon them.
