Is it forbidden by Islamic law to give a copy of the Qur'an to a non-mahram man?

It is not permissible to give a Mus'haf (copy of the Qur'an) to a disbeliever, due to the prohibition of traveling with the Qur'an to enemy territory for fear that the enemy might obtain and disgrace it. Scholars have used this as proof to prohibit selling or gifting a Mus'haf to a disbeliever, and there is no disagreement regarding the unlawfulness of this. If there is hope that the disbeliever will embrace Islam or that the truth will be established for him, then it is sufficient to give him a translation of the Qur'an and books that explain Islam, as it is agreed upon that it is permissible to write to them with some verses, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did with Heraclius.
