Is it permissible for a Muslim to gift an interpreted Qur'an to a non-Muslim with the intention of encouraging them towards Islam?

It is not permissible to allow a disbeliever to handle the Mus'haf (copy of the Qur'an) because he is impure, and because "none touch it except the purified" [Qur'an 56:79]. A Muslim who gives a Mus'haf to a disbeliever commits a sin. If the tafsir (exegesis) is not accompanied by a Mus'haf, then it is apparent that it is not permissible to let him handle it if there is a fear of it being disrespected, or because some scholars have explicitly stated that disbelievers should not be allowed to handle books of fiqh (jurisprudence) for fear of disrespect. If a Muslim is certain that the disbeliever will not disrespect the Shariah books, then it is permissible to allow him access to books of Islamic knowledge, but not the Qur'an. It is better to tell the disbeliever that he can access the tafsir online. Repentance for this action involves seeking forgiveness, feeling remorse, and resolving not to repeat it.
