The question

Is it permissible to place plastic after the shroud (kafan) that is directly touching the body of the deceased, and before the rest of the shrouds, in order to prevent blood and odor from emanating from the جنازة (funeral/bier), and thereby avert harm from people and mosques?

The answer

There is no harm in placing plastic over the shroud to prevent blood and odor from escaping. If perfume suffices to prevent odor, then it is sufficient. Sheikh Ibn Baz permitted placing something to hold the wound on the deceased.
