It is permissible to be named "Nala" if it is derived from the Arabic word "Al-Nil," and there is no religious impediment to that. It was mentioned in Ibn Battal's commentary on Al-Bukhari that "Al-Nawl, Al-Nal, and Al-Nalah" mean a recompense, while "Al-Nil and Al-Nawal" mean a gift given freely. "Al-Nalah" also refers to the area around the or the courtyard of Mecca.
