What is the nature of a woman's monthly cycle, and what are the times of fertility and conception?
Menstruation is a natural blood discharge that affects women when they reach puberty. Its description is that it is black, thick, intensely hot, and has an unpleasant odor. It is impure, and it is forbidden for a menstruating woman to pray, fast, touch the Quran, circumambulate the Kaaba (), or for her husband to have intercourse with her. She must make up for the missed days of fasting, but not for the missed prayers. She may recite the Quran without touching it if she needs to, and it is permissible for her husband to enjoy her in ways that do not involve penetration. As for ovulation and pregnancy times, consult a specialized doctor.
