What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a husband who spends most days of the week at his parents' house, leaving his pregnant wife by herself, especially given the wife's need for someone to care for her and accompany her to the doctor and for shopping, despite the fact that he has sisters who can take care of their parents?

The wife must be kind to her husband's family and help him honor his parents and maintain kinship ties. Her rights include being provided for financially, having suitable housing, and being protected from committing sin. Scholars differ on the obligation of a husband to spend the night with his wife. Some believe it is not obligatory, while others deem it obligatory one night out of every four. Still, others hold that no specific period is defined, leaving it to discretion. Al-Mardawi said: "Al-Qadi and Ibn Aqil said that he is obligated to spend enough time at home to remove the harm of loneliness and achieve the intimacy intended by marriage without specifying a time, so the judge should exercise ijtihad (definition) (independent reasoning)." I say: "This is the correct view." The husband must balance the rights of his parents and his wife, and the wife must understand that the rights of his parents are greater than hers. It is advisable to be gentle and overlook shortcomings.
