What is the ruling on one who has intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan while he is traveling?

There is no expiation (kaffarah) or sin upon a traveler who engages in intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan while he is not fasting. He is only required to make up for that day. A traveler is permitted to break his fast, whether by intercourse or other means. This also applies to a traveling woman. As for a resident woman who is fasting, intercourse is not permissible for her.
