What is incumbent upon a husband who broke his fast in Ramadan due to the dispensation of travel, then had sexual intercourse with his wife after arriving home, deceptively, and what is incumbent upon the wife?

There is no harm for the traveler in consuming things that break the fast, including having intercourse with his wife, if he arrives at his family's home in Ramadan and she is not fasting. However, if she is fasting, it is not permissible to invalidate her fast. If the traveler has intercourse with his fasting wife and she complies, then according to the soundest opinions of the scholars, she only needs to make up the day and there is no expiation (kaffarah) upon her. If he forces her into intercourse, then there is no expiation upon her, by unanimous agreement.
