Is it permissible for a woman whose husband has passed away abroad to travel with him for burial in his home country before the end of her waiting period ('iddah), or must she remain in her home until the 'iddah expires?

A woman is obligated to observe the 'iddah (waiting period) of widowhood in the house where her husband passed away. It is not permissible for her to accompany the deceased for transport, as this would necessitate observing the 'iddah outside her home. Many Companions and jurists have made it obligatory for a widow to observe her 'iddah in her home, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying to Furay'ah, "Stay in your house."
