What is the ruling on selling a commodity at a high profit, and is there a specific limit for profit in trade? And what is the ruling on offering random prizes to buyers, where the price of the gift is added to the price of the commodity in advance without the buyer's knowledge? And what is the ruling on not clarifying the shipping cost to the customer, and merely stating that the price includes shipping?

First: There is no objection to selling a commodity at any price, as there is no limit to profit in Islamic law. However, one should be kind to people and not exploit their ignorance of prices.

Second: It is not permissible to offer prizes for which the buyer pays a مقابل (consideration) within the price of the commodity, because that is gambling. However, it is permissible to distribute free prizes through a lottery or to those who purchase goods exceeding a certain amount, provided that the price of these prizes is not added to the commodity without the buyer's knowledge.

Third: Shipping may be free as a donation from the seller. There is no objection to taking shipping costs into account when determining the price of the commodity. However, it is not permissible to say that the price includes shipping, because that involves an unknown element (مجهول).
