Is cheating in electronic games by using auxiliary programs to gain an advantage considered impermissible (haram), or is it permissible (halal) since it is only within the context of playing?

It is not permissible to play computer games that contain images of animate beings. As for using a program to help win in the game, if the intention is to succeed and win, then it is not permissible due to its violation of agreed-upon rules, breach of covenant, and cheating. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever cheats is not one of us." If the intention is financial gain, then this adds another sin, which is gambling and games of chance, where one of the competitors either gains or loses.
