Is it permissible to abandon a man who insists on insulting people of religion and righteousness, especially if greeting him brings a sense of humiliation?

The prophetic hadiths indicate the prohibition of abandoning a Muslim for more than three nights, but this prohibition is conditioned on the abandonment being for worldly reasons or personal gain. As for abandonment for the sake of religion, it is permissible and even recommended without a specific time limit, such as abandoning innovators and those who commit open sins, or for disciplining someone who has erred, in order to achieve a legitimate benefit from enjoining good and forbidding evil.

The decision to abandon someone must be based on benefit; if connecting with the person will lead to their benefit or reduce their enmity towards religious people, then it is more appropriate, especially if the person being abandoned is a Muslim.
