The answer

Firstly: The Muslim must know the rulings for acts of worship and transactions.

Secondly: Divorce and Zihar do not occur except by uttering them or what takes their place, and merely intending divorce does not effect divorce.

Thirdly: If the husband did not complete the words of divorce or Zihar, such as if he said, "You are div..." and then stopped, nothing occurs.

Fourthly: The questioner's statement, "You are to me like the back of my mother if I were to say it to you, would I have fallen into something?" does not cause anything to occur now, because it is a conditional Zihar, or it came out in the form of a question.

Fifthly: Zihar is forbidden, and it is not permissible for a man to make Zihar from his wife. If he does make Zihar, he must repent and offer expiation.
