What is the ruling on the preacher’s statements: "If the mother dies, the angels call out: 'O son of Adam, she has died for whose sake we honored you,'" and "Your mother is your intercessor with God"? 1. We are not aware of any reputable scholars who have stated the preacher's saying: "When the mother dies, the angels proclaim, 'O son of Adam, she has died for whose sake we honored you.'"

2. If the preacher intended by his statement "Your mother is your intercessor with God" that honoring her and being dutiful to her is a means to God's pleasure and entry into Paradise, then this meaning is acceptable and supported by شرعي (Islamic legal) evidences.

3. Your departure from the mosque during the sermon is a mistake and impermissible, and by doing so, you may miss the Friday prayer.

4. There is no harm in praying behind this Imam in the future, unless there is another legitimate reason for criticism. You should disregard obsessive doubts, and it is advisable for you to advise the preacher privately and ask him for the evidence for what he said.
