Is it permissible to pray behind an imam who recites Qur'anic verses, intending to direct them at a specific worshipper due to disagreements between them, such as his saying, after reciting the verse: "O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate," then saying after the prayer, "The message, praise be to Allah, has been delivered"?

The Imam's recitation of a verse with the intention of alerting someone does not invalidate the prayer if it is done in its proper place. For example, if someone seeks permission to enter while he is reciting, "Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs" (Quran 15:45), and he raises his voice saying, "Enter them in peace, secure" (Quran 15:46) with the intention of granting permission. However, if he intends to make someone understand something out of its proper place, such as interrupting his recitation of Al-Fatiha for this purpose, his prayer is invalidated because it is akin to speaking during prayer. If the Imam's prayer is valid, it does not prevent following him, and it is not permissible to abandon the congregational prayer for this reason. The Imam should be up to the responsibility, characterized by patience, wisdom, and forgiveness.
