The answer

A Muslim should bear in mind that this world is a place of trial, and he should strive to be patient in tribulation. He should know that discontent does not bring what is desired nor repel what is feared. He should attach himself to Allah and seek refuge in Him, and beware of falling into sins, and be keen on repentance. Let him keep before his eyes the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Do not be a weakling, saying: 'If people are good, we will be good, and if they are oppressive, we will be oppressive.' Rather, accustom yourselves that if people are good, you should be good, and if they are oppressive, you should not oppress."
