The act of bakery owners reducing the weight of bread without declaration is religiously forbidden, constituting deceit and short-weighing, which is prohibited by Allah's saying: "Woe to those who shortchange! Those who, when they take a measure from people, take in full, but when they give them a measure or a weight, they cause them loss." It is obligatory to adhere to the agreed-upon weight. If a project requires engaging in forbidden acts, it must be abandoned, and one should seek a permissible project, for "whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better," and "And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect."
