Is it permissible for me to perform ʿaqīqah for myself—after I have reached 29 years of age—by asking my father to slaughter a sheep and distribute it to a nearby mosque without informing them that it is an ʿaqīqah? There is no objection to an adult performing aqiqah for himself if it was not performed for him in his childhood. It is not necessary to inform people that the food is aqiqah, but it is permissible to do so, and in that is a revival of the aqiqah sunnah.
