What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a mixed Turkish bath, which is frequented by men and women in swimsuits, or where they completely undress in private rooms, while Qur’anic verses are displayed as decoration on one of its walls?

Writing or hanging Quranic verses in bathrooms is forbidden and a reprehensible act. It may even reach the point of disbelief due to its mockery of the Holy Quran, which was revealed for honor and glorification. Bathrooms are places for relieving oneself and exposing private parts; they are abodes of devils where the remembrance of Allah is not befitting.

As for the mixing of men and women and their bathing together in swimming attire in public bathrooms, it is a blatant evil and contrary to Islamic Sharia, which prohibits a man from looking at the 'awrah (private parts) of another man, and a woman from looking at the 'awrah of another woman, and especially a man from looking at the 'awrah of a woman, and a woman from looking at the 'awrah of a man.

Therefore, it is obligatory for a Muslim to stay away from such environments, and to advise the owner of the place to fear Allah, and to prevent the exposure of private parts and mixing, and to allocate separate areas for men and women, and to remove Quranic verses from bathroom walls.
